Superheadz Blue Ribbon Camera

I just came home from picking up a mountain of prints from my stack of neglected film. Most of the highlights from this first batch are from my Superheadz Blue Ribbon Wide Angle Camera

I love this little camera. It's simple, lightweight, and the pictures are amazing.

Flashback Friday: Middle School

I have finally started making progress on my pile(s) of pictures to scan. A lot of them are pretty old, and therefore, pretty ridiculous. As such, I thought it only fair to share.

I present to you two of the results of a photo shoot I did with my best friends in middle school. (I'm the one in the stylin' orange shirt.)Yes, we paid someone to make us look like this and record it for history's sake. And believe me, there are more, but these were separated out for some reason (probably because they're so fantastic).

Feel free to keep these images in your head to think about in case your day gets rough, I know I will!

Photography Apps

Yeah, yeah, I know, you're sick of lists of photography apps. Well, I am too, at least, I'm sick of lists that include the same apps over and over and over...As an admitted photography-app-hoarder, I am here to share with you some of my favorite lesser-known (or at least, lesser-shared) apps.

I have an iPod Touch and an Android phone, so I have apps on both. However, the iPod has an infinitely greater selection of photography apps (unless you count creepy porno apps, in which case the Android wins, hands down). So, here they are, in no particular order...

Plastic Bullet. ($1.99, App Store) I love this app because it creates random toy-camera, vignette, and light leak effects - perfect for those indecisive moments!

SwankoLab. ($1.99, App Store) It's like everything you love about darkrooms, minus the smell of developer! You get to mix developers, fixers, and additives to create different looks. You can also same formulas if you get a look you love.

ClassicINSTA. ($1.99, App Store) Everything you love about instant cameras, minus the expensive film! It even "ejects" the picture. You can change the cartridge to different effects or simulations of damaged cartridges. You can also change the instant film frame.

푸딩 카메라 (Pudding Camera). (Free! App Store and Android) This is a really versatile app. It's just that everything other than the camera and film names happen to be in Japanese. So, if you can read Japanese, great! If you're like me and you have no idea what the characters mean, you can absolutely manage. I actually have a few Japanese camera apps and can fumble my way through just fine! This one has a couple of motion camera settings and a fish-eye lens, plus some others.

Are there any photography apps you enjoy???

Our Wedding / My First Impossible Project Experiment

30 Day Photo Challenge - Days 5-8

So I was busy getting married and mini-mooning this weekend (more on that later), and (obviously) not up to speed with the 30 Day Photo Challenge. Before my last-day-off-work nap, here are the photos for days 5 through today.

Day 5: Someone I Love

(My then-fiance, last minute wedding shopping on Friday)

Day 6(ish): Childhood Memory

(I bought a bouncy ball out of a quarter machine at a sketchy flea market Sunday.)

Day 7: Something(s) New

(New wedding ring, Dali museum bracelet, flea market sunglasses)

Day 8: Technology

(a la thift store)

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 4

Favorite Color*

*I don't really have a "favorite color". This neon sign contained two of my favorites, but due to technical difficulties (i.e., our party being called at a restaurant), this is the image of the sign. It's much better than a simple picture of a sign, anyway.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 1

Although August is going to be a tad on the busy side (read: we're getting married in 5 days), I'm excited to participate in the Oh So Lovely 30 Day Photo Challenge! I think it sounds like a lot of fun and a great excuse to make use of my zillion photography apps. If you haven't already, check it out!

And, per the list, here is my first photo of the month!

Let me know if you're participating, too!

Living in Orlando

One of the perks of living in Florida, particularly around Orlando is the theme parks. This is also a huge minus of living here, depending upon how close you live/work to the parks and tourist traps. I'm far enough away to venture there when I want to, but retreat when it's overwhelming.

Yesterday Brian and I spent the afternoon at Animal Kingdom to use our Disney birthday-present passes before they expired. It was disgustingly hot and crowded, but it was worth it to see some amazing critters.

Black swan
Ok, so you can probably see black swans in lots of places, but I still love this one!

And what about this buddy, building a nest...

To protect these eggs from jerks like this!

They do have animals that aren't birds, but I just really like birds.

Well, to be honest, we took pictures of a lot of other critters, too, but we have to wait to get that film developed.

Happy Welcome Home

It's nice to come home to several happy, bright-colored surprises after a long day of work!

Today, my flowers greeted me as I pulled in the driveway. This is quite the surprise for this girl with a black thumb, as these are a transplant from a friend that I've kept alive for years!

Flowers!

And when I got inside, there was happy mail waiting for me! I received the goodies I won from Amy Is The Party!

Goodies From Amy Is The Party

Thanks, Amy! I love everything...and it will all make other long days at work much cheerier.

(PS. In case you haven't noticed, I've done quite a bit of remodeling on my blog. It's still a work in progress, so stay tuned!)

Maitland Food Truck Night

Somehow I was out of the loop for the beginning of the weekly Food Truck Cafe in Maitland. I feel like I should've been notified directly about the arrival of a cupcake truck mere miles from my house, but anyway...I found out about it last week when Jason went. I had already made dinner, but he brought us cupcakes. That's when I knew I had to venture there myself.

I had to work late tonight, which was the perfect excuse to run off to food truck land instead of cooking. Sure we're behind the rest of the world with this food truck trend, and sure there weren't many vegetarian options, but did I mention - cupcake truck!?!

The weather is nice this evening and the park where the event is held is really pretty, so it made for good times.

We both got portabello burgers from the Tree House Truck because we're good kids that don't just have cupcakes for dinner.

You can even tell by the picture that these burgers were delicious. Look at the avocado! And it helps that Brian is displaying it like a work of art.

And then, of course, we had cupcakes.

The Yum Yum Cupcake Truck is basically my new favorite thing. The gentlemen that run it are great. The truck and their website are adorable. Oh, and the cupcakes are amazing.

Just look how the red velvet turns me into a 50's housewife in a cupcake ad!

And on an unrelated note, this must be my lucky month. I've won two blog giveaways from two great blogs: A Summary for the Summer and Style Crush. I'm excited! Thanks, ladies! I will be putting this positive blog energy into the re-vamping of this here blog, so keep a lookout!

Corny Adventures

This weekend marked my fourth annual trip to...
...the maize maze!

There are creepy sculptures...

...Awesome paintings...

& of course...

Corn!

&

People dressed like corn! Actually, this was first this year (to my knowledge). I now want to be a corn person when I grow up. I'm already the right size, which is to say, I already fit in a very short, child-sized  corn costume.
